Ken Ward

Former senior officer with NZ and UK Police, Ken is one of our New Zealand based consultants and currently resides in the Coromandel.

Ken has vast experience in the regulatory environment. He is experienced and highly skilled in training development and facilitation.

He was responsible for delivering training and assessing Waitemata District Police staff competency at ‘level one’ and ‘level two’ of the NZ Police investigative interviewing standards program.

Whilst Acting Inspector NZ Police Professional Conduct, Waitemata District, he developed expertise in managing and conducting employment investigations.

As NZ Police Training Practice Lead: Leadership Management and Command Group he played a lead role in the design and coordination of pass / fail competency-based qualification courses for non-commissioned and commissioned officers.

Prior to emigrating to NZ, Ken was a Detective Inspector in Central Manchester where he managed serious and series crime investigations. He is most proud of the work he did to support changing the investigative mindset of detectives such that they fully contributed to the ground-breaking ‘city centre safe’ crime prevention approach.

Ken was a level 3 investigative interviewer in the UK and has considerable experience interviewing serious offenders, vulnerable witnesses and victims.

Ken was seconded for two years to the Government Children’s Action Plan programme as the National Workforce Lead: Children’s Workforce Core Competency project and Children’s Team Lead steering the implementation of the ‘children’s team approach’ in Counties Manukau.
